A Fabulous Encounter In Southwick Woods

Deer_200

There is nothing quite like a pleasant stroll through woodland, carpeted in bluebells. Southwick Woods was awash with colour; my photographs just did not do it justice. At one point we sat on a fallen, mossy tree trunk, gazing peacefully at our beautiful surroundings when we had some unexpected visitors. We held our breath as they came closer and closer — a truly magical moment!

We also spotted early purple orchid, orange-tips, peacocks and speckled woods.

Summer Leys

After an entire month spent with home improvements, it was fabulous to get out to Summer Leys for a gorgeous spring walk. On our way we saw our first swallows of the year sitting on telephone wires. Highlights included listening to all the warblers, watching all the sand martins wheeling about and spotting orange tips and brimstone. We look forward to visiting again very soon.
